Official sources for these images are found at Standard Highway Signs book under regulatory signs. Detailed specifications also shown within the MUTCD manual. The fonts used are FHWA Series also known as highway gothic.

Places like fonts.com will sell commercial packages of traffic sign images like the ones shown here, search for highway signs on their site. I don't use these packages, so I can't comment on the quality or usefulness.

 

Places like myfonts.com sells commercial versions of the Highway fonts. I would recommend USA Traffic Signs to those who are interested in buying traffic signs.
